Another Day...another $.50
So I painted my nails the other night. Yeah go figure, I dont paint my nails...ever...Im a clear polish kinda girl. I do however really dig black polish. I figured eh what the heck. So I painted my nails black and wouldnt ya know it they have already started chipping! I touched them up tonight and I have just noticed as Im typing another one has chipped!
So yesterday I went to the movies with some friends and we saw Sideways. Its a Fox Searchlight Film...that actually tells you alot. They put out Napoleon Dynamite, Garden State and Waking Life. All very eclectic character study type movies..all of which I really enjoyed. So back to Sideways...its about two old friends who set off on a road trip prior to ones wedding "only to veer dizzily SIDEWAYS into a wry, comedic exploration of the crazy vicissitudes of love and friendship" Main characters are played by Paul Giamatti (love him as the blue guy in Big Fat Liar) and Thomas Haden Church from the USA TV series Wings. The characters complimented each other really well and I thought these two were the perfect actors for the part. This movie is based on a novel by Rex Pickett...think I might just have to pick it up. So yesterday I also watched the movie Go. Which I had seen before. So the drug dealer in the movie is played by Timothy Olyphant and man let me tell you last night it was driving me crazy as to what I last saw him in. Then it dawned on me....The Girl Next Door. He played the same sleazy bad type of guy in both movies. Whew glad I figured that out.
So Hello Kitty turns 30 and Sanrio decides to celebrate with a crop circle.
Mad Magazine.....man need I say more. I so dig that mag. Check out this site....this dude has scanned in all the cover of Mad Magazine that have ever existed, going all the way back to 1954!
Last thought.....can I say "So" anymore in one blog? Geez!

IDIOT!
IDIOT!
So if you havent heard about it yet, go check it out. Goggle Maps Its still in its Beta, testing, mode but man it totally rocks. Its got a great layout. Pritty accurate directions, unlike some map searches we know. The graphics are awesome, you can actually read the street names. Theres alot more interactiveness with Google Maps...and for you geeks out there the underlying technology used is impressive.

Heres my search for coffee shops in Somerville.

*Since its still in Beta mode it doesnt work in all browsers PC or MAC...you may have to upgrade or use another browser.

- Patriots Rolling Rally. I didnt call in sick this morning to attend the rally, although I am still incredibly sick, but it seemed every kid in Boston did. Seriously why didnt they just give the kids the day off? Did anyone except the teachers and principals actually go today?

- Heres a little tid bit thanks to the great guys at Wired News...... Look Out, Andretti
A 4-year-old Michigan boy with a late-night craving got into his mom's car and idled all the way to the video store, according to a police officer who initially thought he had spotted a driverless automobile weaving down the street. The store was closed, so the boy -- whose feet didn't even reach the accelerator pedal -- came home empty-handed. But not before he did some damage: He rammed two parked autos and backed up into the cop car driven by the officer following him. "His mom didn't even know he was up," said the police chief, noting that no charges will be filed. "I don't think he even realizes what he did."-- Lewis Wallace

Veering....
So dictionary.com says this about veering:
- To alter the direction of; turn: veered the car sharply to the left.
Also you eventually have to leave the rotary, that is of course unless you continue to say "Look kids, Big Ben!" and yes sometimes traffic lights are located at the corners of the street and not hanging overhead.

You know your a Masshole if....
These are some of my favorites...and I must say althought not originally from Mass I have picked up and can relate to quite a few of these ;)
- You think if someone is nice to you they either want something or they are from out of town and lost
- You know how to cross four lanes of traffic in five seconds
- You can drive to the mountains and the ocean all in one day
- You know that a yellow light means that at least five more cars can get through and a red one means two more can
- There are 24 Dunkin Donuts shops within 15 minutes of your house
- If you stay on the same road long enough it eventually has three different names
- Someone has honked at you because you didn't peel out the second the light turned green
- You have honked at someone because they didn't peel out the second the light turned green
- Six inches of snow is considered a dusting
- You can go from one side of town to the other in less than fifteen minutes.
- The person in front of you is going 70 MPH and you're cursing them for going too slow
- You know how to pronounce towns like Worcester,Haverhill, and Cotuit
- You know what they sell at a "packie"
- You keep an ice scraper in your car all year round
- You know what a frappe is
- Paranoia sets in when you can't see an ATM or CVS
- You've pulled out of a side street and used your car to block oncoming traffic so you can make a left turn
- You know what "regular coffee" is
- You can navigate a rotary without a problem
- You use the words "wicked" and "good" in then same sentence
- You know the Mass Pike is some strange weather dividing line
- You almost feel disappointed when someone doesn't flip you off when you cut them off or steal their parking space

Im never going to bed....
Its 11:30 and I need to go to bed, but Empire Records in on! Man I love that movie. I guess ill just have to stay up and watch it. I think ill play a little ZUMA too. Im never going to bed tonight ;) A few parting words from Empire Record...
- "Whats with you today? Yesterday you were normal and today your like the chinese guy from the Karate Kid. Whats with today, today?"
- "Wow. You did have hair when you went in there, right? aYeh, it's still in the sink if you want to glue it."
- "No visible tattoos. No revealing clothing. We're both screwed. At least you're used to it. Now Debra, don't be bitter. Certainly with your ever growing collection of flesh mutilating silver appendages and your brand new neo-nazi boot camp make-over; the boys will come a runnin'. Let's not be bitter, let's just rip."
- "Damn the man! Save the Empire!"
- "Who's your favorite singer? Axl. Well, if Axl Rose was driving down the highway and saw Rex Manning stranded on the side of the road. Do you think Axle Rose would stop and help him? Does Axle have a jack? No way man, Axle would spin the wheel, take aim, pound the gas; and take that sucker out. Warren, Warren, where do you get this hostility from?"
- "Oh Rexy, you're sooo sexy."
- "Just another tasty treat from the gang at Empire Records."
- "Orange"
- "Gwar wants you Mark."
Weekend of nothing...

Hmmmm....
The Thought Project - this is really kool, I only skimmed a couple of the shots today but I dig knowing what people are/were thinking. Its like reading a piece of someones journal and the photos just help bring it all to life.
A Sketch Journal - if you cant read their journal why not check out their sketches. A bit strange but I dig em.
This is exactly how I feel when I go to the airport, everytime I go to the airport. I usually get picked "randomly" for drug checks on my backpack. I know I look young and all but come on kid, give me a break. I got pulled twice for extra security checks on my way home for thanksgiving and then got pulled again on the flight back. JEEZ!
Sitting at work today, listening to my ITunes playing Virgin Radio and Bill Monroe's Sweet Home Alabama comes on. Man that song brings back a lot of memories when all the boys still lived here in Mass...and you too Laurie ;) Good Times! Good Times!
CDs I'm really diggin right now:

Hodge Podge o Goodness
- You ever wonder what its like to be a part of a bobsled team? Well all you have to do is come to Mass and pick a street and drive down it. The walls of snow just keep growing and growing. Its so bad, that you have to inch out of parking lots to get onto the main street. I mean inch out, you inch and inch and..wow I can finally see...too bad im in the middle of the street and a semi is headed straight towards me....lets see just how fast my car will actually move!
- Did you know its possible to fishtail your car at a speed of about 5 miles an hour? Yeah well it is.
- You know theres alot of snow when your driving down the road thats three lanes and you see a sign that says "right lane must turn right" and you cant seem to find that right lane!
- If you own a car in the Boston area and its not in a driveway or specified parking lot....more than likely your gonna get it towed if you dont move it. Kids have no school again and my friends dont have to be in until 9:30am tomorrow but alas im still going in to work and on time as usual.
- Falling Ice man that gave me a good laugh.
- Seriosuly people suicide is just dumb...but aparently its even worse if you change your mind halfway through and live to deal with potentially 11 counts of murder.
Nepoleon Dynomite - man what a funny movie. Watched it again today with my roommate. I honestly dont know which is more funny....the movie or my roommate laughing at the movie.
Alias - so at the end of the show tonight when they show scenes from next week...yeah well they say heres what youll see in two weeks! What!?!? Two weeks? What do you mean two weeks, what about next week? Am I a morron, is there some big something that will be scheduled to take the place of Alias? UGH!
