You know your a Masshole if....

These are some of my favorites...and I must say althought not originally from Mass I have picked up and can relate to quite a few of these ;)

  • You think if someone is nice to you they either want something or they are from out of town and lost
  • You know how to cross four lanes of traffic in five seconds
  • You can drive to the mountains and the ocean all in one day
  • You know that a yellow light means that at least five more cars can get through and a red one means two more can
  • There are 24 Dunkin Donuts shops within 15 minutes of your house
  • If you stay on the same road long enough it eventually has three different names
  • Someone has honked at you because you didn't peel out the second the light turned green
  • You have honked at someone because they didn't peel out the second the light turned green
  • Six inches of snow is considered a dusting
  • You can go from one side of town to the other in less than fifteen minutes.
  • The person in front of you is going 70 MPH and you're cursing them for going too slow
  • You know how to pronounce towns like Worcester,Haverhill, and Cotuit
  • You know what they sell at a "packie"
  • You keep an ice scraper in your car all year round
  • You know what a frappe is
  • Paranoia sets in when you can't see an ATM or CVS
  • You've pulled out of a side street and used your car to block oncoming traffic so you can make a left turn
  • You know what "regular coffee" is
  • You can navigate a rotary without a problem
  • You use the words "wicked" and "good" in then same sentence
  • You know the Mass Pike is some strange weather dividing line
  • You almost feel disappointed when someone doesn't flip you off when you cut them off or steal their parking space

Im never going to bed....

Its 11:30 and I need to go to bed, but Empire Records in on! Man I love that movie. I guess ill just have to stay up and watch it. I think ill play a little ZUMA too. Im never going to bed tonight ;) A few parting words from Empire Record...

  • "Whats with you today? Yesterday you were normal and today your like the chinese guy from the Karate Kid. Whats with today, today?"
  • "Wow. You did have hair when you went in there, right? aYeh, it's still in the sink if you want to glue it."
  • "No visible tattoos. No revealing clothing. We're both screwed. At least you're used to it. Now Debra, don't be bitter. Certainly with your ever growing collection of flesh mutilating silver appendages and your brand new neo-nazi boot camp make-over; the boys will come a runnin'. Let's not be bitter, let's just rip."
  • "Damn the man! Save the Empire!"
  • "Who's your favorite singer? Axl. Well, if Axl Rose was driving down the highway and saw Rex Manning stranded on the side of the road. Do you think Axle Rose would stop and help him? Does Axle have a jack? No way man, Axle would spin the wheel, take aim, pound the gas; and take that sucker out. Warren, Warren, where do you get this hostility from?"
  • "Oh Rexy, you're sooo sexy."
  • "Just another tasty treat from the gang at Empire Records."
  • "Orange"
  • "Gwar wants you Mark."

Weekend of nothing...

Wow...Sunday already. Man the weekend just flew by. I was pritty much a scrub for the most part, aside from the trip to the gym and food shopping I did nothing. Hey when you work as much as I do during the week you need to do nothing on the weekends. So with that in mind im going to finish off my weekend by watching Coyote Ugly, sometimes you just have to watch a cheesy movie.

Hmmmm....

So Thursday starts off with a bright and early PCon. The president of the company, the production manager, the assistant production manager and myself are all in the office waiting for this guy to call. So we end up on the phone with this guy explaining, for the second time, what exactly were looking for. We continue to explain and explain and explain and roll our eyes as we explain again. I think at one point I was actually confused as to what we were doing, if that's possible. I know when we hung up the phone we were like "Holy Crap! He has no clue!" and that poor guy when he hung up must have been like "Holy Crap! I have no clue!" Well I'm sure he's enjoying his smacking dose of reality. He said he'd reassess and call us back. I don't know if I can handle another call like that! Needless to say the day was filled with crazy amounts of work, training someone to do my maintenance work incase I need to travel and the usual 50 some odd meetings. My day, unfortunately, ended with a huge migraine.

The Thought Project - this is really kool, I only skimmed a couple of the shots today but I dig knowing what people are/were thinking. Its like reading a piece of someones journal and the photos just help bring it all to life.

A Sketch Journal - if you cant read their journal why not check out their sketches. A bit strange but I dig em.

This is exactly how I feel when I go to the airport, everytime I go to the airport. I usually get picked "randomly" for drug checks on my backpack. I know I look young and all but come on kid, give me a break. I got pulled twice for extra security checks on my way home for thanksgiving and then got pulled again on the flight back. JEEZ!

Sitting at work today, listening to my ITunes playing Virgin Radio and Bill Monroe's Sweet Home Alabama comes on. Man that song brings back a lot of memories when all the boys still lived here in Mass...and you too Laurie ;) Good Times! Good Times!

CDs I'm really diggin right now:

Hodge Podge o Goodness

Thoughts for the day...
  • You ever wonder what its like to be a part of a bobsled team? Well all you have to do is come to Mass and pick a street and drive down it. The walls of snow just keep growing and growing. Its so bad, that you have to inch out of parking lots to get onto the main street. I mean inch out, you inch and inch and..wow I can finally see...too bad im in the middle of the street and a semi is headed straight towards me....lets see just how fast my car will actually move!
  • Did you know its possible to fishtail your car at a speed of about 5 miles an hour? Yeah well it is.
  • You know theres alot of snow when your driving down the road thats three lanes and you see a sign that says "right lane must turn right" and you cant seem to find that right lane!
  • If you own a car in the Boston area and its not in a driveway or specified parking lot....more than likely your gonna get it towed if you dont move it. Kids have no school again and my friends dont have to be in until 9:30am tomorrow but alas im still going in to work and on time as usual.
  • Falling Ice man that gave me a good laugh.
  • Seriosuly people suicide is just dumb...but aparently its even worse if you change your mind halfway through and live to deal with potentially 11 counts of murder.
  • Nepoleon Dynomite - man what a funny movie. Watched it again today with my roommate. I honestly dont know which is more funny....the movie or my roommate laughing at the movie.

  • Alias - so at the end of the show tonight when they show scenes from next week...yeah well they say heres what youll see in two weeks! What!?!? Two weeks? What do you mean two weeks, what about next week? Am I a morron, is there some big something that will be scheduled to take the place of Alias? UGH!

Another Snow Emergency!

My car and the giant snow bank. Posted by Hello

What do you do when there no place to put anymore snow and theres an expected 8 more inches coming tomorrow?

January 24, 2005

Blech!

So most people I know had the day off today, not me. Figures! I didnt get MLK Jr. bday off, I dont get Presidents day off, so why would I expect to get the snow day from Blizzard '05 off? Just another day at work except theres an awful lot of snow on the ground.

Go Pats!

The Pats are going to the Super Bowl, again!

More Snow!

So we spend last night trapped in the house. We decide to drink a bit and watch Most Extreme Elimination Challenge. Man that show is just an absolute riot! 9am rolls around and were all up. We look out the window and low and behold...30 inches of snow! Wind gusts like no other. So we figure eh, were up, might as well start shoveling. So after an hour and a half my roommate, his girlfriend, a friend of ours who stayed over, one neighbor from upstairs (the only neighbor out of 6 that actually came out to help) and myself managed to shovel the entire driveway and the sidewalk. Theres no place to put the snow theres so much of it! (My digital camera is all jacked up at the moment otherwise Id have included some pics.) 1pm rolls around and yes its time for another round of Shovel the Driveway!! WooHoo..my favorite game. My roommate and his girlfriend left the house to make their way to her house to check on her dogs. They said the roads havent really been plowed that well and there arent any plows in sight. I have friends whose streets havent seen a plow at all yet nor will they. I do know that Ill have to shovel one more time before the game tonight and I think that will be my last bit o shoveling for the day! Its amazing how when you can leave your house and you choose not to your fine but the one time when you really cant leave, or its really difficult to leave, you feel like you just have to or else youll go stir crazy? Well thats about where I stand now. I want to go out and catch the game somewhere, I just dont want to get stuck there without my car, especially if I have to go to work on Monday. If theres no work Monday then thats a different story. Man have I mentioned how much I hate the snow?

Let it snow!

So I spent a good majority of my Saturday at the garage getting my car fixed, again. As I sit there reading my book, I can see the snow just starting to come down. By the time my car is ready and I can leave the snow is really starting to come down. Boston is under a blizzard warning. Were expecting to recieve 20 - 30 inches total over today and Sunday. Wind gusts up to 65, maybe 75 mph. This will be one of the fifth worst snowstorms in recorded history for Boston. There is potential for power outages and whiteouts. They are strongly encouraging people to stay indoors. It is said "If you leave the safety of being indoors you are putting your life at risk." Well then. We know Im not even stepping one foot outside! Man all I can think of is how much I just dont want to have to shovel tomorrow. I mean come on, theres a big football game to be watched! I dont have time to shovel ;) Snow sucks!
